Champions Crowned Across Multiple Sporting Categories

Nimba County have once again asserted their dominance in Liberian football after winning the football category of the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet.
The Mountaineers secured a convincing 2–0 victory over Grand Kru County in the grand final played on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.

The triumph marks Nimba County’s record-extending seventh National County Sports Meet football title, further cementing their status as the most successful county in the history of the competition. Backed by a passionate crowd, Nimba delivered a disciplined and energetic performance, controlling the match and finishing clinically to seal the championship.
Beyond football, the tournament concluded with champions emerging in several other categories, highlighting the depth of sporting talent across Liberia.


In basketball, Lofa County edged Nimba County in a thrilling 96–95 final to claim back-to-back titles in one of the most dramatic games of the meet.
Meanwhile, Margibi County captured the kickball championship after defeating Grand Cape Mount County in a tense shootout following a 1–1 draw.
The 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet once again served as a powerful platform for unity, talent development, and national pride, bringing together counties from across Liberia in a celebration of sport, competition, and cultural identity.
